Me too! I'm glad the majority of our class wanted to meet outside of class time so we could have more people come and share with us. Can't wait to hear what all they have to say!
We just attended a Deaf panel today for ITP 215W an it was pretty awesome and amazing! I learned a lot. I was exhausted, though, after 2 hours of panel discussion and 2 hours of reception/socializing. Even though there were interpreters for the panel, I still tried to catch as much as possible of the original message in ASL, and I was trying to take notes at the same time, so that was a mess :) . I also still get a little worn out trying to effectively communicate with folks in a language that I'm not fluent in. I hope that will go away with time and exposure. It sure gives me a renewed respect and appreciation for Deaf people in a mainstream or oral school system. Whew!
I wish I was going to the panel. It seems like it would be really interesting and different. I have to work so I will not be able to make it. I really hope Ms. White can record it.
