Having a Tough Time

Well I just needed a place to vent and talk about some troubles that I am having. I am really having trouble with the thought of coming back to school or not after the summer. I am really considering beauty school, so I would be learning something else totally but still in school. I just don't know what to do. I love kids and I want to work with them somehow, but I don't know if teaching is for me, the issue is that I am a jr and I haven't been admitted into the program yet. I am currently waiting to hear back from the school. I was just needing to vent about this all. If you have any thoughts I would love to hear them. I think that my biggest problem is that I am burnt out on school. Ugh, I just wish I had it all figured out like I thought I did... :(

  1. im in the same boat with the burnt out thing. im graduating next may/june and i swear everytime i get one thing done like ten more pop up that i have to get done before i graduate. do what is gonna make you happy because in the end it doesnt matter how much money you make or wehre you live or whatever, what matters is that you're happy.

and remember (my motto for the next like year and a half lol): "Just keep swimming, Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. What do we do? We swim, swim, swim." :)

  2. Bri, I am sorry you're feeling this way right now. It's such a common feeling for so many students and often those going into education. It can be scary and overwhelming. Also right now the field is going through many changes and making policy changes which often impacts students and what you must do. Often it feels like one thing will never end, another cannot move forward, another part of life can't even begin and it would just be easier to run away and escape it all.

There are certainly no easy answers. You can seek out lots of ideas and get feedback. But, ultimately your heart will tell you where your passions lie. There are many ways you can use your gifts and talents and make a difference in the world. It may be education or it may be somewhere completely different.

The one thing I would share is believe in YOU. Know YOU can do whatever YOU want to do. Give yourself a break here and there and permission to be REAL. Know you'll find the strength, wisdome and path to accomplish whatever you end up choosing.

    I have confidence in you.

  3. dude I feel ya. My thing is though, you are SOO close!! I mean Beauty school is cool, but would it be better to get a bachelors degree and if you really don't like it then maybe go back and go to beauty school? I don't know which is right for you, but just know that you are not alone in this "I hate school, I hate everything" boat. I honestly think its part of the process. I mean you can't get that satisfaction of being like "suck it EKU i just dominated you!" whenever you graduate. but my advice is to take a weekend. Do no homework. Sleep lots and just think about nothing revolving schoool. and then flip a coin. (because if you haven't heard, whenever you flip a coin for the right answer the right ansewer aka the one you really want magically pops into your head.) Thats what I would do. and have a lovely Easter.
