Heart Awareness Month

As some of you may know, February is Heart Awareness Month. What some of you may not know is February 7-14 is Congenital Heart Defect Awareness week. Every 15 min a baby is born with a congenital heart defect . 4,000 of them will not live to celebrate their 1st Birthday . I pray and hope just like every other parent who has a child born with a congenital heart defect that more awareness comes soon . Their is no cures only repaires or broken hearts ! 1 out of 100 babies are born with a CHD, my daughter is one.

Although a child is born every 15 minutes with a CHD, research continues to be grossly under-funded in America. Of every dollar the government spends on medical funding, only a fraction of a penny is directed toward congenital heart defect ...research.

We Need More Awareness for our Babies and families ....

Join me and many other by spreading awareness for these CHD warriors, angels, and all of those affected by a CHD and wear RED for CHD awareness week.

  1. Thank you for letting me know about this in class today. I did know that February was heart awareness month, but for some reason I always kept associating it with women. I did not know that it included congenital heart defects as well. My future plans (hopefully) are to become a labor and delivery nurse, so this was a really interest and close issue for me. Thanks again!
