My name is Bronwyn Fisher and i am a hard of hearing person. I have friends who are deaf and we all know sign language. I wasn't born deaf but at the age of 2, I became deaf. That is when I attended the A.G. Bell school, also known as the Alexander Graham Bell school in Ohio. I learned sign language from then on. I grew up learning English sign language until I met most of my friends and adopted into the ASL language. So that makes me a Pigeon. A PSE language learner.
The reason why I am in this class is because I need it for my degree. I am in the Deaf Education Major because after interning in a preschool deaf setting, I became fascinated by how one teaches a deaf child. And it made me feel as if I belonged in that setting because we spoke the same language.
I hope this will be a interesting and fun class.

ReplyDeleteHi Bronwyn, It was at the age of 2 1/2 that my son lost his hearing and became Deaf. He also started his education in a school that used Signed English but now he is proficient in ASL. It's so interesting to me to see how many ways people can communicate!
