Introduction

My name is Lindsay Knapik, and I am majoring in Special Ed. and Elementary Ed. with a minor in ASL. I was first exposed to people with hearing impairments while working at a daycare for children with chronic illnesses and special needs. I found it very important to learn sign language in order to understand the wants and needs of the children I was caring for each day. Being able to understand and communicate with people who have hearing impairments is extremely important to me, and I am looking forward to the information and activities this class has to offer.

  1. Lindsay, it is so much fun signing with young children regardless if they are Deaf and use it as their main mode of communication or if they are hard of hearing or hearing and use it as a way to supplement what they are saying. I'm sure you have had many interesting experiences in your work.
