Introduction

Hello!! My name is Kala Lakes, I am majoring in special education / deaf and hard of hearing. I have been around American Sign Language my whole life I have several cousins that are deaf and a brother that is fluent in ASL. I had never paid much attention to the people around me signing until I was twelve years old, my brother was in a car accident that left him with brain damage. He along with other broken bones my brothers jaw was broke and had to wired together. My brother could not remember how old he was or what had happened but he never forgot how to sign. That summer he helped me learn basic signs and from then on I knew that I wanted a job with sign language.
