Deaf Event: Deafestival 2012 in Louisville, KY

http://kcdhh.ky.gov/deafestival/index.html

Here's the link that explains more. This happens every 2 years in downtown Louisville (my hometown!!! <3) and it is AWESOME!!! It happens along with WorldFest, where many different cultures from all over the world get together and perform shoes, have shopping booths, and offer ethnic foods of all kinds! This year is a Deafestival year and there will be shows, the majority of the Deaf community in Louisville (a VERY large group of people) will be there, and it's just a great time. It's free and it's close to home (for most of us).

  4. My ASL 101 & 102 teacher actually talked to our class about this last year and she was actually a part of one of the events in it. It has always looked so interesting to me but I am never able to get to it because of when it is. Hopefully one day I can work it out that I can be there. It really looks fun!!

  5. I went to this last year with one of my high school teachers that I shadowed when I was a senior. It was very interesting and informative. Really gave you a way to dive deeper into the deaf culture

  6. Deafestival is very fun! Actually, Deafestival starts right after NAD conference. NAD is during the week, in Louisville, then Deafestival starts on the weekend, following NAD. They are both in the same place in Louisvile. * First week of July, the 3-7th.
