In my ASL 201 class last semester my Professor had us watch this video. The video is called my son is deaf finally. I kept thinking about this video during our class on Monday. Trust me you have to watch this video till the end.
Thanks for sharing. As a Mother I couldn't force my children to have a cochlear, but if it was something they truely desired; we would have to discuss it.
I've seen this before and it was 'wow'! I was impressed by this. I think this is a good way for parents and other adults to consider the facts of getting their child a cochlear...or at least to get them to realize that not every thing is their decision.
Thank you for posting this video. I'm glad I took the time to watch it. I was so relieved to find out that the story was untrue. I completely agree that it is a person's own decision whether they want a cochlear implant or not.
I could feel my blood starting to boil! haa so glad this wasn't real! Being a DHH major I agree and believe that it should be up to that individual person, but sadly not everyone thinks that way!
urrr umm. I'm not for or against cochlear implants i think it entirely depends on the situation/family, whether the family is hearing or whether they are deaf. but taking away someone's hearing and trying to enhance it is two different things.
My teacher has us watch this in one of my CDS classes! I felt extremely uncomfortable watching this and many classmates got up and left in the middle of it. I'm glad I wasn't one of those and stayed until the end because it had me upset watching this thinking a parent would consider that.

ReplyDeleteThat is how I view the video.
