Introduction.

Mine's a little late, but I accidentally deleted the email with instructions on how to get to the blog.
Anyways. I'm Fran Cooper. I'm a junior Deaf education major, with emphasis in elementary aged student, and I'm also an ASL minor. I am in this class as it is a requirement for my major and an option for my minor. The only time before I came to EKU for school that I ever communicated with a Deaf person was when I was a waitress, and a Deaf couple would come in about once a week. I always felt bad because I knew little sign and could only communicate with them with pen and paper. I think that is when my interest in the Deaf culture began. However, I didn't intend on doing much with it. I actually came to school for a political science degree and ended up making the drastic change to Deaf Ed. I've loved it so far and can't wait to progress through other classes and learn even more.

  1. I changed my major a couple of times while I was in college as well!! I am excited that you've settled in Deaf Education. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn, grow and meet so many wonderful people. Teaching in the field is filled with lots of joys (and challenges) and makes every day something NEW!
